It might be because I am a history nerd, more specifically an ancient history nerd, who loves classic literature and epic tales but this is one of my all-time favorite books. I remember it was assigned to me for the project of the year when I was taking a college literature course while I was in high school. I loved every page of this epic tale.
I love the stories of Trojan War and stories of ancient Greece, Rome, Troy, and Sparta. This book chronicles the journey of Aeneas who escaped Troy after the Trojan War and travels to Italy where he ultimately settles and becomes an ancestor to the Romans. It is an epic tale based partly on historical fact and filled in with fictional details to complete the story. It's ancient historical fiction and it's fantastically brilliant and exciting. I loved every page and to this day it remains one of my favorite books.
